Santiago Elías Esparza, a professional from OUA GAMMA, the urban planning area of OUA Group, received the “XVI Ricardo Santos Deu National Urban Planning Award” last Friday in Madrid in recognition of his work on the “successes and challenges in the urban management of sectors of delimited urbanizable land in Catalonia”. The event was held at the headquarters of the CEU Sant Pau University Foundation, in the Argüelles neighborhood of Madrid.

The research was born as the final project of the Master's in Urban and Architectural Management and Valuation (GVUA) of the MBArch of the ETSAB, which Elías studied in 2022-23, and addresses the complications that exist in Catalonia for urban development. Elías designed a database from which he deciphered the characteristics (size, uses, etc.) that certain areas of potential urban land had to have in order to be developed. The topic and its approach aroused the interest of both APEC (Association of Developers of Catalonia), which partially funded him —and published the work in its magazine—, as well as the media: the newspaper La Vanguardia echoed it in this article of the work of the OUA Group professional.

Elías joined OUA Group in 2019 and worked in the Assets Management area. Since last year, he has been part of the OUA GAMMA team of urban architects.
